London Postgraduate Accommodation   +44 (0) 203 489 5853

Your first day

When you arrive, please remember to bring the following documentation with you.

  • your Student ID card or your offer letter from your university and photo ID (without proof that you are a university student, we are unable to hand over your keys)
  • a copy of your tenancy agreement
  • proof of payment for your first term

Upon arrival, our staff will check you in, hand over your room keys and show you to your room.

At the beginning of the academic year, there will be orientation sessions at each location. The staff will let you know when these are when you arrive. These are a good opportunity to find out about the local area and get to know your neighbours.

For all GradPad accommodations, reception is open 24 hours so you can check in at anytime.

Getting settled

After you have arrived, you may need to look after a few things.

  • Register at a doctors: See our wellbeing section for more information
  • Get a bank account:  The main UK high street banks are HSBC, NatWest, Lloyds TSB, Santander and Barclays – you will need to bring proof of address and a form of ID when you open a bank account.
  • Mobile phone: If you opt to ‘roam’ in the UK with your current mobile phone, be careful as it can be very expensive. One way to save money, while staying in touch with family and friends, is to get a UK prepaid SIM card. There’s no contract or monthly bills and you just add credit when you need it.
